Absences during Term-time
As of the 1st September 2013, the Government has amended the regulations regarding absences during term-time. Amendments to the regulations remove references to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The law does NOT give any entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during term-time. Any application for leave must be in exceptional circumstances and, as the Headteacher, I must be satisfied that the circumstances warrant the granting of leave. Parents may be asked to provide documentary evidence as proof of such exceptional circumstances.
Parents can also be fined by the Local Authority for taking their child on holiday during term-time without consent from the school.
Please also be aware that the Government has reduced the timescale for paying a Penalty Notice; the timescale from 1st September will be £60 within 21 days of notification of the fine or £120 within 28 days.
