Camden Eco Champion

Camden Eco Champion

The Camden Eco Champions awards were created to recognise the people in Camden who go above and beyond to protect the environment. Our School Chaplain Shirley Taylor secured second place in December.

Some of Shirley's achievements

  • Championed growing vegetables and selling the produce at Camden Market with the pupils running the stall.
  • Organised visiting chefs, who cooked with the pupils using their own produce, to show them how satisfying it is to grow fresh food.
  • In 2021, Shirley led the school to re-wild as a way to mark its 160th anniversary.
  • Headteacher’s lawn was given over to new beds and wildflower planting.
  • Participated in the Tower of London Superbloom rewilding event.

The Eco Champions awards event was an inspirational morning and it was wonderful meeting so many families and members of Camden community. The Mayor of Camden, and Councillor Nasim Ali gave a powerful opening speech on how we can all work together to make Camden greener and cleaner.

A big Congratulations to Shirley and all the winners!

It was my privilege to collect this award on behalf of Shirley.
