La Sainte Union Catholic School

Celebrating 160 years

Celebrating 160 years

Our school closed its 160th-anniversary celebrations last term with a special mass with Bishop Nicholas Hudson in our Chapel on Tuesday 11th October and special assemblies on Thursday 13th October – our founder Jean Baptiste Debrabant’s birthday. There was also a special French lunch served on that day, to commemorate the origins of La Sainte Union!

Jean Baptiste Debrabant inspired and championed the women who became the Sisters of La Sainte Union, setting up schools throughout the world since the early nineteenth century, and in Highgate for the past 160 years. Bishop Nicholas was very impressed by the Chaplaincy reps who prepared the Mass with Ms Taylor.
