LSU at NASA

Day 1 visiting the Kennedy Space Centre had pupils in front-row seats to see the launch of the latest SpaceX mission to Mars a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Pupils got to practise docking skills, navigated the unique Mars terrain and experienced the sensation of performing a spacewalk in a microgravity environment. Using the exciting and immersive simulation technology available, teams worked together to solve real-world problems using authentic NASA Science. There was plenty of time for biology too, as pupils enjoyed an airboat ride on the Everglades; discovering territory that remains unaltered in the Wilderness of the Central Florida Everglades.

The students were an absolute credit to the school and received very high praise from the hotel manager, tour guides and members of the public. A big thank you to Ms Hussein, Mrs Phillips, Ms Delgado and Mr Ossembe for overseeing this trip.

The trip was absolutely amazing and phenomenal, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. NASA was really interesting and fun, it got me thinking more and improving my group skills. I am really grateful I was able to go and visit NASA and, Florida as a whole.

My favourite part of the trip was the NASA Astronaut training. I found it really fun being an astronaut for the day and learning about everything they go through while being in space and the preparation leading up to their trips. Overall NASA was a very fun experience.

I enjoyed the NASA trip a lot, my favourite part was the Astronaut training experience, specifically the exercise with the Rovers and the VR. I had a lot of fun and experienced many new cool things.
