good ofsted judgement under all categories in the new framework

We are pleased to announce that the Ofsted report following the inspection of 3rd and 4th December 2024 at La Sainte Union Catholic School is now available to read on our school inspections page. For the Ham & High coverage, please see here

The outcome of the inspection is that we are confirmed to be ‘good’ in all categories. This is a really great result – obtaining a grade of ‘good’ in five categories is no mean feat, as there are 52 aspects under the combined five categories to evidence in order to obtain the five ‘good’ judgements!

The report itself highlights many wonderful aspects of our school, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our staff, students, and governors.

I am thrilled to share some of the glowing feedback we received:

  • Pupils “behave well in lessons” and focus on their learning, contributing to a “positive educational environment” that fosters growth and achievement.
  • Our high expectations are evident in the report's recognition that pupils are “keen to do well and ambitious for their futures”, with their successes “reflected in their outcomes”.
  • Pupils are praised for their “kindness towards each other”, with “bullying being rare” and handled effectively by staff when it occurs, creating a supportive and nurturing community.
  • The curriculum is described as “broad and well-sequenced”, supporting all students, including those with special educational needs, to “build their understanding over time”.
  • The school ensures pupils are “well-prepared for life in modern society”, with “comprehensive guidance on future careers and pathways”.
  • Students are taught to “appreciate and respect difference”, fostering an “inclusive and respectful community” that celebrates diversity.
  • The wide range of extra-curricular activities, such as “football, drama, and philosophy”, provides students with “opportunities to develop their interests and leadership skills”.

I am incredibly proud of our students, who have played a significant role in achieving this positive report through their hard work, respect for others, and commitment to learning. The report truly celebrates their efforts and the strength of our school community.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the parents who took the time to respond to the survey and speak with the inspectors. Your feedback was invaluable, and your support is greatly appreciated. One parent shared, “Just a quick note to let you know that when I saw that you were being inspected by Ofsted, I filled in the online form but there wasn’t enough space! I called the Ofsted office immediately and asked that I speak to an inspector directly. They just called and I went over in detail all the fantastic work you and your team are doing and how my daughter is thriving because of it.”

This success would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication and expertise of our staff, who consistently go above and beyond to support our students. Additionally, our governors' guidance and strategic leadership have been instrumental in shaping our school’s continuous improvement.

A successful school does not stand still, and we are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve and innovate to build on our successes. The inspection team identified areas for development which were already in our school development plan, confirming the effectiveness of our self-evaluation system. This affirms that we are on the right track and continuously working towards even greater heights.

I encourage you to read the attached report for more detailed insights. Thank you for your continued support in helping La Sainte Union Catholic School remain a place of excellence and inspiration where Bright Women can look forward to Bold Futures.

Best Wishes
