North London Student Sustainability Conference
Five Year 9 La Sainte Union students participated in the North London Student Sustainability Conference hosted by North London Waste Authority at Edmonton Eco Park House on 20 November.
Six secondary schools from North London Boroughs participated in the event.
Each school team researched topics including e-waste, single use plastics and textile wastage, using provided information sheets. The students exchanged ideas in their groups, and then had an open discussion with other school teams to make decisions on how to reduce the impact of problem wastage in North London.
After having the discussion, Deputy Mayor of environment and Energy, Mete Coban gave us a speech to encourage our sustainable activity.
At the end of the conference there was an award ceremony and we are pleased to announce, Chimamanda won the best speaker award! A special shout out to Xyrah who stepped up on the day to be the leader of the Councillors.
It was a great event to help generate an action plan and to suggest young people’s ideas on waste impact to the people in charge.
