Shakespeare drama workshop
On Monday, 7th October, all year 8 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a dynamic two-hour drama workshop focused on Shakespeare's Julius Caesar which they are studying in English. Led by a lecturer in English Education, Su Hippisley, and joined by fourteen student teachers from the Institute of Education, the workshop centred on Portia's character and her unique experiences within the patriarchal society of Ancient Rome.
The girls truly shone during the session, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm as they engaged with the material. They delighted in experimenting with various props, which added an interactive element to their learning experience. The excitement in the room was palpable, as captured in photos.
Su Hippisley expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with our students. She praised them for their enthusiasm and level of engagement, highlighting their thoughtful insights into the play. The student teachers echoed these sentiments, noting how much they learned from our girls, who demonstrated impeccable behaviour throughout.
We hope this will be just the beginning of an ongoing partnership with the Institute of Education that fosters continued learning and collaboration for future years. Congratulations to our students for being such great ambassadors for our school and a big thank you to Ms Ahmed and Ms King for supporting the event too.
