Parents and Friends Association

Parents and Friends Association Registered Charity: 1113591

La Sainte Union has a thriving Parents and Friends Association (PFA) and all parents and carers who have daughter[s] and/or son[s] in the school are automatically members. Once pupils begin secondary school, parents tend to have less day-to-day contact with the school and other parents, but ironically the need for an active Parents' Association is far greater at secondary level as larger schools depend on far more equipment, resources and support.  We warmly welcome all parents and guardians to our meetings and encourage their support of our activities.

Our Objectives

The PFA has two primary functions:

·         to raise funds for the school.

·         to hold social events and talks for parents, carers, teachers and friends.

Membership

The PFA Committee consists of four officers: the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. We also have a sub-committee of parents who have volunteered to help at social and fundraising events.

How to get involved

There are numerous ways you can support your daughter through the PFA:

·         Give some of your time to attend meetings and functions

·         Donate items such as raffle prizes; wine, chocolates etc.

·         Buy raffle tickets and play the 50/50 Lottery

·         Help out at events - many hands make light work!

·         Donate good quality uniform

How we raise money

Most of the money raised is through the events we organise. Each year we run a 50/50 Lottery, a Grand Christmas Draw and raffles at concerts. We have also hold Auctions, International Evenings, Quiz Nights and Refreshment Stalls at school events. Donations are very important and we depend on these. They can be anything from your time, money, items for sale to donations for raffles and second-hand uniform.

How we spend the money raised

Money raised in the past few years has been spent on:

Computer equipment

A new rostra for the Senior Hall

Refurbishment of the Sixth Form Common Room

New plants for the school grounds

Subsidies of Overseas trips e.g. Chamber Choir and Orchestra

A new fitness suite that can be used by both staff and pupils and which will support the school’s Healthy Living Policy.

So you can see that any help you give us, in whatever form, really helps to make a difference to your daughter’s time in La Sainte Union.

Meetings

We hold several meetings in a term at 7.00 p.m. They last about an hour and everybody is welcome. The PFA Annual General Meeting is held in September. It is an opportunity for parents to hear in more detail, about past, current and future events, how funds are raised and how the money has been spent. Elections of Committee Officers take place at these meetings and ideas are put forward for future fundraising activities.

Please check our Calendar/Diary Dates for future Parents and Friends Association meetings.

All meetings will be held in the Junior Staff room, entrance is by the Junior Gate and then left after the 'D Wing' up a driveway leading to the Conservatory entrance.
